Awakened by Love:

The Universal Spirituality of Spirit Collective​

 

Awakening is a shift in consciousness that increases awareness. Waking up spiritually, then, is like waking up from bodily sleep. As when the body awakens from sleep and we become aware again of the world of sensory experience, so too the soul may awaken and we may become aware again of the world of spiritual experience.

It is Love that awakens us. Love, like space and time, is axiomatically real. We know Love like we know height, depth, and width, and like we experience the passage of time. These things bear their own definition; we perceive them effortlessly if we simply allow ourselves to do so. This is so because the consciousness of the Universe and our participation in it as self-aware aspects of Nature are expressions of Love.

Spiritual awakening happens as we become aware of Love and discover that Love is what the Universe is up to. It’s like we are sleeping through the great cosmic chime, dreaming of home and of utterly belonging there, not realizing that Love is in the next room cooking, calling us to get up and come to breakfast. Being awake is sharing in the Love that vibrates through the Universe, knowing that it reverberates also through us.

Every person has the potential to self-actualize in this Love that lives at the core of their being. Spirituality, then, is how we respond to the wake-up call. This is why we call it “universal spirituality”: it invites everyone to rub the sleep out of their eyes, shake off the dream, and come to the table to eat. Our universal spirituality is the practice of the awareness of Love.

As one who is seeking spiritual awakening, you have no doubt run across some wild stuff that people believe out there: starships, lizard people, a galactic council, and all sorts of other wacky teachings and conspiracy theories. People who turn to spirituality to cope with trauma and despair sometimes embrace such ideas as shortcuts to obtaining the Love they know, deep down, is calling to them. This represents a “shift in consciousness,” but not into a greater awareness. Rather, they are entering into another dream.

At Spirit Collective, we don’t entertain ideas that have no basis in reality. One of our core convictions is that our understanding of reality will be enlightened as we awaken. Awakening does not permit us to create alternative, escapist worldviews; rather, awakening aligns us with reality in a manner that rids us of ideas that delude our understanding of it. We are not escaping from anything – not the Universe, the world, or ourselves; rather, we are coming to know and accept them exactly as they are. In reality, there are no shortcuts; there is only truth with which we must make our peace.
